Chain Letter

Title: Chain Letter
Characters: Robert Kubica and well, you’ll find out who else.
Prompt: #4 “... paused. Was it just him or did his teammate just quote Madonna lyrics at him?”
Rating: U
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction, it is not true and I don’t know or own the people involved etc etc. Don’t sue me.
Summary: Robert receives a mysterious card.
Word count: 499
Authors Note: This is from a weekly drabble competition, hence the above prompt.

“We are living in a material world”
Robert picked turned over the piece of card that had these words handwritten on, and checked the back for any sign of who left it for him. He pouted, finding it blank. Who was it from? He put the card back on the table and headed down to the hotel lobby.
‘Mr Kubica?’ Robert turned and realised that the receptionist was speaking to him.
‘This was left for you,’ the receptionist replied, holding out a brown envelope. Robert took the envelope and opened it as he left the hotel. Inside was another card, as immaculate as the first and almost exactly the same as the first: both were cream cards with a simple flowing design daintily embossed on the upper left corner. The handwriting was the same as the first card, but Robert didn’t recognise it at all, and the words on this card left him even more confused than before.
I know where beauty lives
I’ve seen it once”
Putting the card back into the envelope, Robert walked out to his car, hoping that the cards would stop, but again he found another brown envelope under his windscreen wiper. It too contained an identical card, but this time had the words:
“You don't need diamond rings
Or eighteen carat gold
Fancy cars that go very fast
You know they never last, no, no”
By the time he had reached the circuit, the cards had left Robert in a very confused state as he tried to work out who on earth could have sent them. He frowned: the handwriting was immaculate and there was nothing on the cards or in the way the handwriting was formed to suggest that it was anyone he knew. Also, it did not look particularly feminine which ruled out the option that one of his friends had gotten someone else to write the cards.
Robert didn’t have much time to dwell on it though, for as soon as he reached the BMW motorhome he not only found another card, but Mario practically jumped on him: apparently Robert hadn’t got his message to call him asap.
“I think that you're afraid to look in my eyes”
Later that day Nick caught Robert agonising over the cards, but Robert hid them quickly.
‘Are you going to the party tonight? There’ll be pink elephants and lemonade amongst other things’ Nick asked. Robert went to answer then paused. Was it just him or did his teammate just quote Madonna lyrics at him? ‘Oh, and Fernando left this for you’
Robert took the white envelope and opened it. Inside there was another card.
“Ladies with an attitude
Fellows that were in the mood
Don't just stand there, let's get to it
Strike a pose, there's nothing to it”
They were definitely Madonna lyrics, but what did it all mean? He turned this card over and was surprised to read ‘come to the party, all will be revealed’ scrawled on the back.

The songs quoted here are all from the Immaculate Collection, apart from the lines from ‘Dear Jessie’. If you can spot where all the lyrics are from and where the ‘Dear Jessie’ lyrics are then well done to you and you can give yourself a pat on the back. I shall tell you what all the songs are later.
